From the opening acoustic guitar notes of the Carter Family's 'Wildwood Flower' (how apt that it be incorporated into a song entitled 'Golden Memories') to the last shimmering jingle of the tambourine on 'Help Stamp Out Loneliness' this album featuring top class musicianship from some of Nashville's finest session players allied to the vocal and musical prowess of Manson Grant, David Shearer and Robert Cameron is, quite simply, the best ever release by Manson Grant and the Dynamos

Manson Grant and The Dynamos – Golden Memories (CD)

"The very best of Nashville-infused country music from the Highlands of Scotland."

Originally released in 2005 (reissued in 2006), Golden Memories is a polished studio production that bridges the gap between Wick and Tennessee. While Manson Grant and his long-time band The Dynamos provide the heart and soul of the album, the recording features the "A-List" of Nashville session greats, including Hargus "Pig" Robbins (piano), Buddy Spicher (fiddle), Hal Rugg (steel guitar), and Bill Hullett.

Produced by Mark Moseley at Sound Control Studios in Nashville, the album is noted for its distinctive blend of traditional Scottish country sensibilities and world-class American instrumentation. The title track, written by Bob Haslett, sets the tone for an album that is both a tribute to the past and a masterclass in modern country production.

Key Features

  • Nashville Collaboration: Features the precise, world-class backing of Nashville's premier session players, adding a "shimmering" quality to the traditional Dynamos sound.

  • Authentic Country Vocals: Showcases Manson Grant’s smooth, emotive baritone, which has earned him hundreds of awards over a career spanning more than 50 years.

  • Critically Acclaimed Songwriting: Includes the song "The Best Years Of My Life" by Robert MacMillan, which famously reached No. 3 in the Dusty Owens Country Music Chart in Florida.

  • Instrumentation: From the acoustic Carter Family-style guitar intro of the title track to the "shimmering jingle" of the closing tambourine, the album is an audiophile-grade country recording.
